Hydrogen Innovation & Research Centre (HIRC) was established in August 2004 as a regional knowledge centre for hydrogen technology, founded by the County of Ringkjøbing in Western Jutland in Denmark. Its purpose is to foster commercialisation of the technical research in the field of hydrogen technologies in collaboration with universities, research institutes, educational establishments, public institutions and, in particular, the business community – both national and international. In other words the aim is to shorten the distance between knowledge and an invoice. One of the primary aims is to initiate a range of demonstration projects.
